The sports world is reeling from the tragedy that struck bodybuilder André Cavalcanti.
The 34-year-old athlete lost his life due to a 17-year-old teenager.
The Brazilian, well-known in his country for participating in and winning several bodybuilding contests, was on his motorcycle when he died.
According to reports from outlets like ‘Infobae,’ it all happened on the BR-369 highway, between the towns of Ibiporã and Jataizinho in Brazil.
Bodybuilder André Cavalcanti Dies in Accident
The Brazilian was traveling on his motorcycle when a 17-year-old teenager, along with two other minors, was in a car, and the tragedy occurred.
The teenager attempted passing him and ended up crashing into André Cavalcanti’s motorcycle, killing him on impact.
According to local police reports, the teenager did not have a driver’s license, and his parents were unaware that he had taken the car.
He could now be treated as an adult and charged with a crime similar to homicide.
Condolences for Andre Cavalcanti Pour In
The sad news quickly spread on social media, and various associations and sports groups offered their condolences to André’s family.
The International Federation of Bodybuilders of the state of Paraná dedicated a message: «With great sadness, we announce that our PRO SUPPORT athlete, Andre Cavalcanti, passed away this morning.»
«It was a motorcycle accident. He was very young and full of projects. We ask God to comfort his family with the news of this tragedy,» read the post on X.
The tragedy moved many people, who remembered him fondly: «André was a great athlete, friend, companion, and will always be remembered as the honest and dedicated person he was.» (Rest in peace)
